3 tips to consistency

If you haven’t heard yet, consistency is the most important thing when it comes to having a successful online business. And this is what I struggle with the most.

They say that if you’re not consistent, you’re non-existent. Why do we need to be consistent? First, it tells your potential customers or your followers that you’re serious about what you do. It creates loyalty and trust as you deliver consistent value to them. And it also helps to keep you top of mind.

As you may have noticed, I haven’t written in quite a while. I do believe consistency is important, but I also want to live my life. I don’t want to be tied down to any sort of schedule – I’m a free spirit!

But I know that if I want to serve my community better, I need to be consistent. I need to show that I’m in this for the long haul. So here’s my pledge to you. I will be more consistent and post weekly. There, I said it. I can’t take it back now!

If you’re like me and struggling to stay consistent in creating content, here are a few tips that I’ve learnt which you may find helpful.

No 1. Be realistic.

I know, we all wish we could post content every day! But if you struggle to find time every week to create content, then maybe you can tell yourself to post once a month, or once every two weeks. As you get it into the habit of consistently creating content, it’ll get easier. And later on, you can amp it up to post more frequently.

The last thing we want is to get burnt out and quitting all together.

No 2. Schedule it!

If you leave the practise of creating content to fate, then it probably won’t happen. Sit down in front of your calender and commit to a schedule. Writing down a date of when you’ll create content every week/2 weeks or month increases the likelihood of you doing it.

No 3. Batch it!

I haven’t started batching my content yet, but this is something I plan on doing. I would recommend this for people who want to save time. This also takes stronger willpower – you’ll need to dedicate several days or weeks to create a lot of content in advance, but you’ll free up more time later on. Once creating content becomes easy for you, meaning that you can write faster, or your ideas flow more easily to you due to consistent practice – batching would be the best action you should take.

No 4. Tell your followers that you’re going to be creating content consistently!

I find that this is the most effective way to get your butt in gear. If you keep your goals to yourself, there’s a likelihood you’ll keep putting it off. But once you start telling people, particularly your email subscribers or followers that you want to create content for them every week, there’s a higher chance you’ll keep your word. I mean, these people are eagerly waiting to hear from you! You don’t want to let them down, right? You want to show that you’re a person of your word and that you’re committed to serving them!

Yes, it’s scary to make such a huge promise. But being scared is good. It gets you out of your comfort zone. And it makes you accountable.

So there you have it! Four tips to get you motivated to creating consistent content. Share your thoughts in the comments below and I’ll see you next week!
